MRT Co will be the project and asset owner of the Klang Valley MY Rapid Transit (KVMRT) project effective Sept 1.

MalaysianInsider 8jul11 - MRT final line cuts property acquisition by half, says SPAD - The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) today unveiled the final alignment for the MRT’s first line from Sungai Buloh to Kajang (SBK), noting that the number of properties to be acquired to make way for the multibillion ringgit rail project had been reduced by 50 per cent ... Azmi added that the realignment to the SBK line had seen the reduction of four stations from the original 35 that was proposed. He said the TTDI and and Section 17 stations have now been merged into one at TTDI, the Bukit Bintang East and West stations also merged to a Bukit Bintang central station while the proposed Taman Mesra station in Cheras has been scrapped and the RRI Sungai Buloh station turned into a provisional one, to be constructed at a later date when needed.

The glittery launch also aired live telecast interviews conducted by RTM1 at three locations where earthwork on the project was formally kicked off today — Sungai Buloh, Cochrane and Semantan ... The Sungai Buloh-Kajang line is expected to start service in January 2017, a month after construction is to be completed in December 2016.

For the first contract package, Zulkifli said the elevated guideway contract from Taman Maluri to Plaza Phoenix would be opened by end-June and the award was expected in November.

Zulkifli said they also hoped to be able to get the final railway scheme for the Sungai Buloh to Kajang line approved next month.

The RA president Tan Sri Dr Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman said the main suggestion in the memorandum was to allow the train to run underground ... Also present at the briefing was Prasarana project development division performance delivery officer Ibrahim Packeer.

MalaysianInsider 5may11 - Prasarana confirms HSSI picked as MRT check engineer - Syarikat Prasarana Negara Berhad (SPNB) group director for project development Zulkifli Yusoff said a Letter of Intent (LOI) was awarded in February to a joint venture between HSSI and Canadian company SNC-Lavalin. “We are waiting for Ministry of Finance approval and they (HSSI-SNC) are on board during the initial period,” he said during a media briefing today.

MalaysianInsider 15apr11 - MRT’s first contract runs into controversy - ... consortium of HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd, Hong Kong’s MTR Corp Ltd and Canadian SNC-Lavalin is likely to land the [ICE] contract despite being rejected by Syarikat Prasarana Berhad (SPNB) earlier for not putting a price to its brief — which usually costs up to 0.8 per cent of the total project ... estimated at RM36.6 billion for three rail lines ... SPNB board will meet today to approve the decision made by the exco at the Finance Ministry level ... the ICE could go as high as RM720 million ... source said the two per cent payment for the cost appeared steep against the industrial convention of just under one per cent ... SPNB chief executive Shahril Mokhtar said last week a one-stop technical committee will evaluate the bids before recommending it to a Finance Ministry committee that will decide on the contract award ... The SPNB chief had also said some 100 firms have applied for pre-qualification for the 16 packages in the elevated part of the 51km-long MRT; the deadline for pre-qualification ended on April 13.
